Reynoso Biotechnology LLCPlant tissue culture · Winston-Salem, NC

A four-station tissue culture lab. Real research, real equipment, real plants.

Reynoso Biotechnology LLC operates a working plant tissue culture laboratory in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The lab runs continuous micropropagation, genetic transformation research, and contamination detection — and is building a consumer plant brand under the name Carolina Culture Co.

The labFour stations

A continuous pipeline from prep to grow-out.

The lab is organized as four physical zones, running simultaneously as one continuous pipeline. Media is mixed at the prep desk, sterilized in the autoclave, poured under the laminar flow hood, incubated in the dark, and moved to the grow chamber for regeneration and hardening.

1
Prep DeskMedia mixing, weighing, pH adjustment, hormone stocks. Hot plate, analytical balance, micropipettes, graduated cylinders.Balance · Hot plate · pH meter · Pipettes
2
Sterile BenchAll hands-on sterile work — dissection, transfers, plate pouring, inoculation. HEPA-filtered laminar flow prevents contamination.Laminar flow hood · Stereo microscope · Autoclave · VEVOR table
3
IncubatorAgrobacterium liquid culture on orbital shaker at 28°C. Co-cultivation, callus induction, selection plates at 25°C in the dark.Orbital shaker · Glass cabinet · Heat pad · Vibration mat
4
Grow ChamberShoot regeneration, rooting, germination, hardening. LED grow lights on 16/8 cycle, humidity-controlled with clear cover.LED grow lights · Wire shelving · Humidity cover · 25°C ambient
Active researchWhat we're working on

Six projects across genetics, fluorescence,
and commercial propagation.

Active

Blue Cotton

Transferring the bpsA + sfp pigment pathway into Coker 312 cotton to produce blue fibers. If the pathway takes, the plant expresses a bacterial indigoidine synthetase — the fibers themselves become blue, no dye needed. The R&D project behind the blue spider lily mission.

R&D

Glowing Rose

Expressing FBP (fluorescent binding protein) in rose tissue. Proof-of-concept for non-bioluminescent fluorescence in ornamental plants. Currently in co-cultivation phase with tobacco as the model system.

Active

Tobacco Model System

Establishing tobacco as the lab's rapid-iteration model for Agrobacterium-mediated transformation. Tobacco transforms reliably, grows fast, and lets us validate protocols before running them on slower-growing species.

R&D

Contamination Dataset

Building a labeled image dataset of contaminated vs. clean tissue culture plates. Target: train a computer vision model to flag contamination early, before it spreads to an entire batch.

Planning

Carolina Culture Co. Launch

Consumer-facing plant brand. Etsy storefront launching with tissue-cultured aroids and orchids — Monstera Albo, Pink Princess, rare variegated species. Every plant lab-propagated, disease-free, and acclimatized before shipping.

Planning

Restoration & Conservation

Applying for USFWS and NCPCP permits to propagate 421 NC-listed protected species. Target contracts: DoD INRMPs, NCDOT mitigation, USFWS restoration grants.

Carolina Culture Co.

Lab-grown.
Carolina-rooted.

The consumer-facing plant brand under Reynoso Biotechnology LLC. Every plant is lab-propagated from verified mother stock, grown disease-free, and acclimatized before it ships. No dead-on-arrival imports. No mystery genetics. Just clean, established plants from a real US lab.

Three product tiers

Overseas tissue culture sellers can only do Tier A. We do all three — and that's where the margin lives.

Stage 3, unrooted
TC Plantlets
$12–18

For resellers and experienced growers who handle deflasking themselves. Matches overseas on price, beats them on shipping speed.

57–68% margin · Highest volume
Stage 4, recently deflasked
Rooted Plantlets
$20–35

For collectors who want a head start but don't want to risk deflasking. 3–5× the TC bag price.

72–78% margin · Medium volume
4–8 weeks post-flask
Established Plants
$40–100+

Fully acclimatized, ready to display. The premium product — and overseas sellers can't do this.

80–85% margin · Lower volume, highest revenue/unit
Sales channels
Etsy → Instagram → Direct

Launching on Etsy (largest existing TC marketplace), building audience on Instagram, then moving to a direct Shopify store at carolinacultureco.com.

Differentiator
Grading system + US-grown

Every batch gets sorted: Collector, Premium, Standard, Eco. No overseas seller grades their output. Combined with US-based shipping = no import delays.

B2B & federalBeyond consumer sales

Restoration. Conservation. Contract propagation.

The lab isn't just a consumer brand. Reynoso Biotechnology is positioned for federal and state restoration contracts, protected species propagation permits, and B2B contract tissue culture services.

Federal restoration

USFWS, DoD INRMPs, NCDOT mitigation banking. The lab can propagate native species for large-scale restoration projects under federal contract.

Protected species

NC has 421 listed protected plant species. With NCPCP permits, we can legally propagate and sell species that most nurseries are not authorized to handle.

Contract TC

B2B micropropagation services for other nurseries, botanical gardens, and research institutions that need clean stock or large batch multiplication.
